Participate in gathering biological data on fish and wildlife species.

Compile biological information and record data using various types of global positioning systems (GPS), data loggers, photo points, and software.

Enter and retrieve data from geographical information systems (GIS) and/or other information management systems.
6.
Participate in gathering biological data on fish and wildlife species including non-game species like bald eagles and herons.
7.
Follow established safety protocol when performing field work.
8.
Operate passenger vehicles, farm tractors and associated implements, utility terrain vehicles (UTVs), and trailers in performance of duties.
9.
Handle, store, and mix herbicides in accordance with state and federal policies.
10.
Provide work direction to a small group of subordinate staff to complete tasks like weed control, fence removal, plant surveys, tree removal, nest searches, etc.

Carry out boundary inspections and sign posting.
12.
Perform minor maintenance on an array of small equipment, trails, kiosks, and water control structures.
13.
Identify trees, shrubs and ground cover vegetation commonly occurring within Midwest forest communities.
14.
Identify native aquatic vegetation and recognize invasive aquatic vegetation species commonly occurring with Midwest aquatic communities.
15.
Conduct vegetation evaluations using various techniques commonly used for species found within Midwest grasslands.
16.
Conduct forest inventory utilizing standard methodologies.
17.
Identify grass, forbs, sedges and shrub species commonly occurring within Midwest grasslands.
18.
Recognize forest pest species and diseases found in the Midwest.
19.
Identify and control or eradicate invasive plant species through hand, mechanical, biological, or chemical methods.
20.
Provide information about fish and wildlife resources to cooperators or other individuals.
21.
Navigate to remote survey sites using legal descriptions and global positioning systems (GPS).
22.
Assist in the preparation of reports and recommendations based on the results of biological monitoring.
23.
Assist with pest plant control by surveying areas, applying herbicides with hand operated equipment and power operated boom sprayer mounted equipment.
