Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. For the GS-12 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.Education cannot be substituted or combined to qualify at the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/ knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of such experience include serving as a legislative assistant, legislative director or equivalent position in a Senator or in a Congressman's office or for a Congressional Committee, where duties included preparing briefing materials and attending meetings with and on behalf of the Member of Congress, and other substantial work products.
