To qualify for the GS-06 level Medical Administrative Assistant position, all applicants must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1) Greeting patients presenting for medical treatment, 2) Making determinations regarding eligibility for medical benefits based on current regulatory guidelines, 3) Safeguarding the rights of patients presenting for treatment. To qualify for the GS-07 level Medical Administrative Assistant position, all applicants must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1) Greeting patients presenting for medical treatment, 2) Making determinations regarding eligibility for medical benefits based on current regulatory guidelines, 3) Safeguarding the rights of patients presenting for treatment, 4) Providing explanation of death and burial benefits to next of kind, 5) Maintaining good public and media relations, 6) Coordinating patient referrals and transfers between medical facilities, 7) Acting as a representative for administration during emergent situations, 8)Providing administrative expertise to individuals during irregular tours of duty, 9) Authorizing employees needed on an overtime basis to attend to patient care needs or emergency repair.
