During the three years prior to applying for this position, you must have: physically resided in the United States or its protectorates or territories (excluding short trips abroad, such as vacations); worked for the U.S. Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or military capacity; and/or been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or military employee serving overseas. Exceptions may be granted to applicants if they can provide complete state-side coverage information required to make a suitability/security determination. All newly appointed, first-time CBP supervisors are required to complete the mandatory Supervisory Leadership Training (SLT) course. The Office of Training and Development will schedule eligible supervisors to attend SLT within the first 90 days of appointment. All newly appointed, first time permanent supervisors shall attain the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform their supervisory responsibilities by completing required leadership training in accordance with CBP Directive 51410-021C, Required Leadership Training for New CBP Supervisors (dated 11/17/2013), and CBP Directive 51410-024, Required Continuous Leader Development for CBP Supervisors (dated 11/17/2013).

NOTE: This training may be waived if previously completed.

The Office of Training and Development will schedule eligible managers to attend CBP LI within the first 90 days of appointment. All newly appointed, permanent GS-15s shall attain the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform their responsibilities by completing required leadership training in accordance with CBP Directive 51410-026, Required Leadership Training for New CBP Senior Managers (dated 02/11/2014), and CBP Directive 51410-024, Required Continuous Leader Development for CBP Supervisors (dated 11/17/2013).

NOTE: This training may be waived if previously completed.
