Do you possess one full year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal Service, that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property? Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Qualifying specialized experience for this position (which should be documented on your resume) includes: utilizing knowledge of standardized rules, methods, procedures, and operating techniques to perform necessary operations in preventing or resolving offenses or conducting preliminary investigations of incidents ranging from simple rules violations to felony and capital crimes; pursuing and apprehending persons fleeing a crime scene or attempting to resist arrest; subduing individuals causing disturbances; coordinating emergency responses between security, fire, and other emergency units; seeking, detecting, and protecting evidence and witnesses at the scene of an incident; making arrest and performing booking procedures; and independently identifying the conditions involved with an incident, determining what kind of action is to be taken to include the level of force.

Performs a full range of police duties by following and executing rules, regulations, and procedures covering law and rules of enforcement.

Knowledge of Federal and State criminal codes, VACO regulations and manuals, local operating procedures and the rules of the Federal court and the code of Federal regulations.

Ability to perform patrol duties.

Knowledge of Federal and State court laws and procedures.

Knowledge of basic and innovative methods to detect investigate and resolve crimes and other incidents that are beyond the scope and requirement of patrol assignment.

Ability to perform routine vehicle patrol of grounds and buildings.

Ability to perform preliminary criminal investigations of serious crimes to include felonies, misdemeanors, petty offenses and files reports.

Ability to provide assistance at an accident scene and determine if any criminal or civil law has been violated.

Knowledge of CPR and basic first aid skills in order to perserve life.
13.
Provides courteous information, assistance, and direction to patients, visitors, employees, and contractors.

Ability to assist higher level police officers and/or supervisor.
15.
Skill in communicating with disruptive and uncooperative individuals.
16.
Skill in questioning witnesses of an accident or crime scene.

Issue traffic citations and Federal Violation Notices.
