1. Do you possess one full year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal Service, that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property? Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Qualifying specialized experience for this position (which should be documented on your resume) includes: utilizing knowledge of standardized rules, methods, procedures, and operating techniques to perform necessary operations in preventing or resolving offenses or conducting preliminary investigations of incidents ranging from simple rules violations to felony and capital crimes; pursuing and apprehending persons fleeing a crime scene or attempting to resist arrest; subduing individuals causing disturbances; coordinating emergency responses between security, fire, and other emergency units; seeking, detecting, and protecting evidence and witnesses at the scene of an incident; making arrest and performing booking procedures; and independently identifying the conditions involved with an incident, determining what kind of action is to be taken to include the level of force.
