1. Typically, experience of this nature is gained at or above the GS-15 grade level in the Federal service, or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations. At this level, you would have typically been responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating work that included managing and/or supervising other managers. You must demonstrate in your resume, significant achievements, increasing levels of responsibility as a manager, and a solid record of successful professional performance.

9. Explain your experience working with internal and external entities to develop and implement communication strategies and outreach programs to promote agency/organization mission-related programs. Examples should address one or more agency-level programs and identify the goal audience and techniques used. (limit characters)
10. Explain your experience that demonstrates an ability to formulate policies and implement initiatives through communications strategies in two or more of the following program areas. Your examples should include any challenges, innovative approaches, and outcomes:
  1. Programs providing a multi-disciplinary approach (e.g. support services, emergency management coordination, information dissemination) in supporting victims and their family members impacted by a large-scale disaster.
  2. Advocacy programs that clearly communicate the need for stakeholders to adopt recommended actions.
  3. Programs that establish effective relationships with elected officials, state, local and federal entities, non-governmental organizations, and industry groups, to include open and responsive information exchanges.
  4. Public affairs initiatives/programs that disseminate agency information using various media, supports media coverage for agency sponsored events, promotes accurate coverage of agency work and activities. This includes the use of digital channels and social media platforms to raise the agency profile and increase audience engagement, as well as utilizing press relations and strategic communications to further agency messaging.
  5. Develop, implement and manage an internal communications program to keep employees informed and aware of agency activities. Experience should include the use of digital signage, employee intranet sites, employee newsletters, and use of surveys to gather employee feedback.
