Eligibilities
1. AF Internal Candidate - Are you a current permanent Career or Career-Conditional Air Force Employee?  If you indicate "Yes" for this question, you must submit a copy of your most recent career/career conditional SF-50 (Notification of Personnel Action) AND a copy of an SF-50 that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis. 12. You MAY, based on deployment location, be required to attend a 2-week pre-deployment training at a training center that includes:
a. Pre-deployment processing,
b. Final medical processing,
c. Validation of on-line training,
d. Weapons training,
e. Information on mobilization,
f. Preparation for serving with the military,
g. Several days at a forward operating base (FOB) integrated with the U.S. military personnel that will include/provide:
1) Mimic type of austere living conditions found in theater, including use of field showers and toilets and subsistence at a military dining facility;
2) Classroom instruction and practical application exercises, concluding with a 2-day immersive field event;
3) The 2-day immersive exercise is physically demanding and requires participants to be equipped in military protective gear (Kevlar vest and helmet);
4) Role play exercises duplicating scenarios that you may find yourself during a deployment, including mock ambushes and IED strikes.
h. The training schedule will exceed a normal 40-hour work week. Overtime is normally NOT paid for any hours above 40 per week; 5 USC Code 4109(a)(1) restricts the payment of overtime for training.

13. This position MAY have the following austere conditions:
Stressful work environments, i.e., long work hours, austere living conditions with little privacy, while living/working on a military compound that may receive indirect fire attack/IED strikes;
Live and work on a military compound/forward operating base (FOB);
Could be dangerous.
Physically challenging in terms of wearing body armor in extreme heat, carrying heavy duffel bags, hopping on/off helicopters and possibly running to a bomb shelter during a mortar attack.
Lodging and meals (typical military style) are provided, so per diem will be limited to $3.50 per day (field conditions).
Lodging is Containerized Housing Units (CHU) with normally four people to a CHU (bunk beds);
Limited access to non-emergency medical/dental care.
The work day is usually 10 or more hours a day for 6-1/2 to 7 days a week
