Do you have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes using in-depth knowledge of the techniques used to detect and measure ionizing radiation in assessing workplace conditions; performing shipping, receiving and related radiation surveys; performing emergency procedures related to radiation safety; utilizing knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology sufficient to understand radiation protection standards, theories, and practices; understanding and effectively implementing applicable DOT, EPA, NRC, and OSHA regulations; selecting, operating, calibrating instruments used for measuring radiation and radioactive materials; evaluating the need for shielding; determining the types/amounts of shielding required; calculating radioactive decay, attenuation, and performing dose calibrator linearity studies; managing/conducting a radiation protection training program; utilizing current radioactive effluent treatment methods, equipment, and procedures; identifying and evaluating radiation hazards and taking measures to eliminate or control exposure to those hazards; and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
