Maintenance Workers at this level perform duties associated with more than one trade such as: minor Carpentry (use simple measures and hand tools on tasks such as replacing broken planks on picnic tables; broken windows using precut stock; minor adjustments or replacing hinges, latches and catches, etc.); Plumbing (tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures which do not require custom fitting or solder joints, replace faucet washers, unplug drains using a plunder, etc.); Painting (use brush and roller according to specific instructions on projects where appearances are not critical such as staining picnic tables and trash barrels, etc.); Electrical (assist with installation or replacement of light switches, receptacles, fuses, etc., string electrical wiring and staples/fastens into place, etc.); Masonry (assist in asphalt repair work; assist with mixing soils, water, and amendments for mortars as prescribed, removing damaged portions of walls or other similar features in preparation for repair of damage stabilization and original fabric, implementing prescribed preservation treatments, recording the location, time, materials, and labor involved in the treatment process, etc.). They also possess the ability to use a computer, maintain records, and perform simple arithmetic calculations.
