Your SF-50 must include enough information to be able to determine that time-in-grade requirements have been met (if applicable) and include your position title, pay plan/series/grade, tenure and the type of appointment (i.e. Competitive or Excepted). Assessment 1
Thank you for your interest in a Pharmacy Technician position with VHA Member Services, Health Resource Center, Pharmacy Customer Care, located in Hot Springs, SD. Select the appropriate answer to each of the following questions based on your current level of education and/or experience that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. When answering the questionnaire, remember that your experience and education are subject to verification by investigation. You may be asked to provide specific examples or documentation of experience or education as proof to support your answers, or you may be required to verify a response by a practical demonstration of your claimed ability to perform a task.
The following questions are used to determine whether you meet the basic requirements for this position.
1.
Do you possess a high school diploma or equivalent; or at least three (3) months of experience as a pharmacy technician?
2.
Do you possess one-year experience at the next lower level (GS-7) and fully meet the KSAs at that next lower level as well as demonstrate the GS-8 level KSA's below?
The KSAS's at the GS-7 level include:
• Ability to evaluate, analyze workflow, and coordinate work activities.
• Ability to independently gather, evaluate, and analyze data to generate reports and/or for other projects/statistical purposes.
• Knowledge of pharmacy policies and procedures sufficient to train and orient new employees and other staff
• Comprehensive knowledge of the operation and care of specialized pharmaceutical equipment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the procurement and formulary process.
• Comprehensive knowledge of investigational drug policies and procedures.
• Comprehensive knowledge of controlled substance policies and procedures, and the ability to identify and investigate discrepancies in these policies and procedures.
• Comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to, analyze data in VA information systems.
The KSAs at the GS-8 level and the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSAs designated by an asterisk (*) that include:
• *Knowledge of human resource management policies and procedures, and the ability to supervise various levels of pharmacy technicians and other technical personnel (for supervisory assignments).
• *Ability to apply management and leadership principles.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Extensive working knowledge of the pharmacy operation.
• Ability to assess staff needs and provide appropriate training.
The KSAS's at the GS-7 level include:

Do you possess a certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)? Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required at grades GS-6 and above. Copy of PTCB certificate is required as proof.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS- In order to be considered the following items must be submitted:
(1) REQUIRED-VA Form 10-2850c, "Application for Associated Health Occupations"
(2) REQUIRED-Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume;
(3) REQUIRED-Most recent SF-50 (NOT an awards SF50);
(4) REQUIRED-Proof of PTCB certification; Please note an expired certificate will not be accepted
