Thank you for your interest in a Pharmacy Technician position with VHA Member Services, Health Resource Center, Pharmacy Customer Care, located in Hot Springs, SD. Select the appropriate answer to each of the following questions based on your current level of education and/or experience that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. The following questions are used to determine whether you meet the basic requirements for this position. (limit characters)
1. Do you possess a high school diploma or equivalent; or at least three (3) months of experience as a pharmacy technician?

2. Do you possess one-year experience at the next lower level (GS-7) and fully meet the KSAs at that next lower level as well as demonstrate the GS-8 level KSA's below?
The KSAS's at the GS-7 level include:
• Ability to evaluate, analyze workflow, and coordinate work activities.
• Ability to independently gather, evaluate, and analyze data to generate reports and/or for other projects/statistical purposes.
• Knowledge of pharmacy policies and procedures sufficient to train and orient new employees and other staff
• Comprehensive knowledge of the operation and care of specialized pharmaceutical equipment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the procurement and formulary process.
• Comprehensive knowledge of investigational drug policies and procedures.
• Comprehensive knowledge of controlled substance policies and procedures, and the ability to identify and investigate discrepancies in these policies and procedures.
• Comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to, analyze data in VA information systems.
The KSAs at the GS-8 level and the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSAs designated by an asterisk (*) that include:
• *Knowledge of human resource management policies and procedures, and the ability to supervise various levels of pharmacy technicians and other technical personnel (for supervisory assignments).
• *Ability to apply management and leadership principles.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Extensive working knowledge of the pharmacy operation.
• Ability to assess staff needs and provide appropriate training.

4. Do you possess a certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)? Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required at grades GS-6 and above. Copy of PTCB certificate is required as proof. (limit characters)
