I am able to perform the full range of Animal Caretaker tasks including: preparing housing requirements, nutritional demands, special diets, and habitat needs of a variety of animals and birds; following procedures for animal care in a quarantine environment; restraining a wide variety of animals and birds to prevent/avoid injury to animals and/or personnel during procedures; maintaining animal health and daily activity records; monitoring and adjusting environmental conditions such as relative humidity, lighting, temperature, and ventilation; handling and overall care of a large variety of animal species. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.

B. I am able to perform some Animal Caretaker tasks including: preparing housing requirements, nutritional demands, special diets, and habitat needs of a variety of animals and birds; following procedures for animal care in a quarantine environment; restraining a wide variety of animals and birds to prevent/avoid injury to animals and/or personnel during procedures; maintaining animal health and daily activity records; monitoring and adjusting environmental conditions such as relative humidity, lighting, temperature, and ventilation; handling and overall care of a large variety of animal species. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion.

C. I am able to perform common Animal Caretaker tasks including: preparing housing requirements, nutritional demands, special diets, and habitat needs of a variety of animals and birds; restraining a wide variety of animals and birds to prevent/avoid injury to animals and/or personnel during procedures; maintaining animal health and daily activity records; handling and overall care of a large variety of animal species. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
