2. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. Thank you for your interest in a Pest Controller position with the Department of the Army. We will evaluate your resume and your responses to this assessment questionnaire to determine if you are qualified for this position. Your responses are subject to verification. 1. From the descriptions below, select the appropriate response based on your level of experience, education, and/or training, that you fully possess and that demonstrates your ability to perform Pest Controller duties without more than normal supervision.

A. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex duties managing a pest control program entailing surveillance inspections, selection and application of appropriate pest control measures. I am skilled in determining equipment requirements. I am able to read and interpret directives, technical manuals, etc. to obtain information needed to plan and carry out a pest control program. I am knowledgeable in toxicity of chemicals to include proper mixing, handling and application. I am knowledgeable in life cycle of pests, reproductive patterns, effects of seasonal weather changes, and species recognition. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.

B. I have the ability to perform the full range of duties to carry out a pest control program. I am familiar with life cycles, reproduction patterns, and source of pest infestation. I am able to evaluate effectiveness of chemicals used, research trade material for chemical mixtures and application techniques. I am able to evaluate various types of equipment, demonstrate proper equipment use and provide advice on type of equipment most effective for the job to be performed. I am able to follow directives, accepted practices, handbooks and chemical formulas. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.

C. I have the ability to perform common pest control duties. I can control or eradicate a wide variety of pests not commonly recognized and hard to find to exterminate, such as termites, beetles, and moths. I am able to conduct scheduled inspections of building and grounds for evidence of conditions conducive to pest harborage/reproduction. I am able to determine scope of infestation and apply appropriate measures to control or eradicate pests. I am able to determine and operate equipment needed for assignment such as hand-operated dusters, sprayers, mist machines, fog machines. I can select and mix a variety of chemicals according to approved formulas. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

D. I have the ability to perform simple pest control duties or I have received training on pest life cycles and reproductive patterns.

E. I do not possess the abilities described above.
