Plan and conduct research pertaining to the attitudes and behaviors of private, family, forest ownerships, the factors that influence these ownerships, and the impacts of these decisions.

Perform all stages of the scientific process from idea generation and study design to implementation to analysis and dissemination of results.

Assist in the implementation and analysis of the National Woodland Owner Survey.

Participate in the generation of new research ideas.

Conduct research related to, forest ownership trends, landowner education, conservation literacy, timber availability, and the effectiveness of forest policies.

Develop and improve the technical aspects of the National Woodland Owner survey sample design, questionnaire design, and estimation procedures.

Analyze Forest Inventory and analysis forest resource data through review of the annual forest inventory data and preparing annual and comprehensive resource reports.

Assist in the implementation of the National Woodland Owner Survey.

Interact with representatives from federal/state agencies, universities, landowner groups, non-governmental organizations, and forest industry companies to design, implement and share the results of the National Woodland Owner Survey.

Responsible for dissemination of research results to peers, forest managers and citizens through professional journals, Station publications, presentation of papers and posters at scientific meetings, symposia, and workshops and through participation in public involvement and education activities.

Review peer manuscripts, study plans, training development, and research proposals.
