Specialized experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Examples of this specialized experience would include, but not limited to the following: Monitoring vital signs, administering medication, assessing body systems, monitoring life support equipment, and implementing care plans; recognizing and responding to life threatening situations utilizing appropriate emergency treatment. Work experience in which you were responsible for a number of technical procedures, e.g., inserting intravenous catheters, performing venipunctures and arterial punctures, assisting in emergency surgery, splinting, suture removal, ear irrigations, inserting nasogastric, basic IV fluids, oxygen. Work experience which demonstrate assisting physicians with specialized monitoring, diagnostic and treatment procedures.

Assist and/or perform other related technical health care procedures under the supervision of the Emergency Department Physicians.

Collaborate with other members of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) to assess the patient to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of the patient's condition including the search for medical alert symbols and medications.

Assist Emergency Department Physicians with complex, specialized, and potentially life-threatening procedures i.e. defibrillation, cardioversions, insertion of chest drainage tubes, or initiation of mechanical ventilation to restore normal physiological function or prevent deterioration of patient's condition.

Monitor and/or obtain test results as soon as available to inform physicians promptly to facilitate patient care.

Conduct or assist with stand-downs, community health programs, blood pressure and glucose screenings, flu immunizations etc. as needed.

Evaluate patients for i.e. emergency medical conditions, order appropriate diagnostic studies and under the direction of the supervising physician a wide range of treatment procedures.

Recognize/act to life threatening situations according to established national or facility protocols.

Utilize specialized medical equipment i.e. defibrillators, electrocardiograph, and oxygen apparatus as needed.

Perform dressing changes, wound management, suture removal, repair of simple lacerations, Foley catheters insertion, splint, binder and bandage applications, and performance of tracheotomy care as required.

Provide assessment and management of ambulatory patients seen in the Emergency Department as required.
14.
Obtain patient health history, chief complaints, medication history, and identification of health-related conditions that may impact the patient's health status as needed.
15.
Respond to medical emergencies on the facility grounds, and sometimes encounters situations which may be life threatening as part of the Rapid Response Team (RRT).
