Thank you for your interest in a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist position with the Federal government. Select the appropriate answer to each of the following questions based on your current level of education and/or experience that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. BASIC REQUIREMENTS. The following are basic requirements for appointment as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which all applicants must meet.

NURSE ANESTHETIST EDUCATION: Are you a graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program approved by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) at the time you completed the program? (Supporting documentation/transcripts required).

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT: Do you possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia? (You must maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted registration to continue employment with VA.

CERTIFICATION: Do you possess certification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists? (Copy of Certification is required).

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: You must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Are you proficient in spoken and written English?
MERIT PROMOTION DOCUMENTATION REMINDER - If you are a current or former Federal employee, you MUST provide a copy of your last or most recent SF-50, "Notice of Personnel Action" to assure you receive the appropriate considerations. The SF-50 must identify your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure, and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). If you have previously held a higher grade and are applying based on that grade, you must provide a copy of the SF-50 showing you held the higher grade IN ADDITION to your last or most recent SF-50 indicating proof of status.
TRANSCRIPT REMINDER - This position has a Basic Education Requirement. For this reason you must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. If a degree is required, it should show the degree was conferred.
