Review scientific journals, research findings, and other sources to stay up to date with emerging forest diseases and/or developing management methodologies.

Coordinate and implement all aspects of a pathogen detection, evaluation, prevention, and control program.

Identify pathogens to determine damage caused by organisms.
9.
Serve as Regional representative and sometimes National representative on several national and regional forest pathological programs.
10.
Analyze collected data in consultation with other professionals.
11.
Develop disease management alternatives to reduce pathogen effects.
12.
Conduct biological evaluations or other assessments to gain knowledge concerning disease biology, ecological relationships, parasitic effects, survey methodology, or new control techniques.
13.
Prepare technical reports and manuscripts based on analyzed data to incorporate into resource project plans.
14.
Implement technology transfer plans to provide information to specialists and resource managers.
15.
Write guidelines related to plant pathology, which are incorporated into resource project plans or other management documents.
