4. West - Medical Interim Care - Interim (short stay/long stay) unit is a 38 bed neighborhood that provides comprehensive, interdisciplinary care to Veterans with acute and chronic conditions. The focused population is short stay/long stay skilled and rehabilitation with primary focus on wound care, IV therapy, general deconditioning, general rehabilitation and post-surgical rehabilitation. Common diagnoses unit include diabetic neuropathy, peripheral vascular diseases, and impairment of skin integrity, complex wound care, congestive heart failure (CHF), and chronic renal insufficiency.

5. Inpatient Psychiatry 1 West/Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Program (MHRRTP): Responsible for their daily nursing care delivered in the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Program's two tracks: Substance Use Disorder and PTSD. Duties for the MH RRTP include: admissions/ discharges, leading groups, medication administration and education, milieu management, and crisis intervention. The nurse selected will also be cross trained to the inpatient psychiatry unit, 1 West. Duties on this unit may include: inpatient admissions, medication administration, interdisciplinary treatment team participation, patient education, providing groups, and completing discharges. In addition, this RN would assist in education provided in both areas.

6. Community Living Center and Rehabilitation unit (CLC) - Provide compassionate care in an interdisciplinary environment to eligible Veterans with sufficient functional impairment to require the level of service and skill. Veterans with chronic stable conditions including dementia, those requiring rehabilitation or short-term specialized services such as respite or intravenous therapy, or those who need comfort and care at the end of life are served in the VA CLC.

9. Blind Rehabilitation - Provides comprehensive specialized rehabilitation training for visually impaired veterans. The Registered Nurse (RN) will work with veterans with identified medical training goals, medical care as needed, medication management, health maintenance education and training, integration of blind rehabilitation techniques and devices. Full participation in the blind rehabilitation program working closely with Veteran assigned BR team and ancillary staff.

10. Hemodialysis Unit (HDU) - The unit is connected to the hospital; therefore, we provide acute dialysis in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Step-Down Unit (SDU). Staff work closely with the Renal Physicians, Social Worker, and Dietitian, providing a multidisciplinary environment for our Veterans. Nursing staff and technicians work closely to provide a safe environment for the Veterans Hemodialysis treatment. The hours of operations are Monday through Saturday 7am to 1730, staff work 10 hours shifts and third shift at times is inevitable. All nurses rotate charge, med nurse, and on-call. All on-call nurses complete a long weekend that starts Friday 5:30 pm through Monday 6:00 am and periodically throughout the week.

15. Home Telehealth - A Home Telehealth (HT) RN Care Coordinator (CC) is a professional who coordinates care for a panel of patients throughout the continuum of care utilizing various telehealth technologies to assure that care is timely, appropriate, of high quality and cost effective. A HT RN CC works closely with the primary care provider(s) and other healthcare professionals and team members, other clinics, internal or external services and community agencies. He/she provides professional assessment, teaching, coordination and planning of multiple health care services; and acts on behalf of the Veteran to assure that necessary clinical services are received, and that progress is being made.

16. Med/Surg (3 North & 2 South) - The 3 North and 2 South Acute Care Registered Nurses provide care with the assistance of nursing assistants and a variety of support services. Nurses implement the nursing process, collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary care team and provide psychological support to patients and families. The registered nurse provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling; provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; and executing medical regimens including administering medications and treatments prescribed by a licensed or otherwise legally authorized provider. The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community. RNs hired to 3N are required to attend the Rhythm Interpretation and Modalities class, pass the final exam, and become certified in telemetry monitoring.

17. Pre & amp; Post-Operative Care (ASU/PACU) - There is a 9-bed pre-op/holding area and a 12 bay PACU. Provide inpatient and outpatient care to a population that serves men and women Veterans. Surgical specialties include but not limited to cardiothoracic, ENT, general, neurological, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastics, podiatry, urology, and vascular. Occasionally, the PACU patient requires a higher level of care and the monitoring of these complex patients may include Swan-Ganz catheters, CVP, arterial lines, multiple vasoactive drips, and ventilatory assistance. The PACU also assists and cares for ECT and cardioversions patients as well recovery of out of OR procedures that required general anesthesia.

18. Emergency Department (ED) - Our Emergency Department consists of 19 medical beds, 2 seclusion rooms and a fast track to better expedite the diagnosis and treatment of our unique patient population, including chest pain, stroke, breathing disorders, as well as mental health diagnoses. As one of the ED Staff Nurses, you will be responsible to the Nurse Manager of your assigned area and will be responsible for the organization and administration of high quality and efficient patient care to our unique patient population.

19. Operating Room (OR) - A variety of surgical specialties are performed daily and range from simple to complex procedures, such as General to Cardiothoracic. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individuals based on age-specific components. A thorough knowledge of sterile techniques, instruments, specialized equipment, and supplies are required to ensure a safe patient outcome.

20. Step Down Unit (SDU) - A 12 bed mixed medical and surgical intermediate care unit. The SDU provides cardiac support with continuous telemetry monitoring and medication drips. VA offers generous paid time off and a variety of predictable and flexible scheduling opportunities.

21. Intensive Care Units (ICU) - A 19-bed mixed medical and surgical intensive care unit. In partnership with the University of Arizona, we have an active medical and surgical training program. Surgical populations include cardiothoracic, vascular, general surgery, neuro, and others. The ICU provides cardiac support with intra-aortic balloon pumps and Impella assist devices. Preferred candidates should have experience with mechanical ventilation, intravenous vasoactive medications, hemodynamic monitoring/interpretation, cardiac experience with EKG/12 Lead interpretation, and possess critical thinking skills. The Registered Nurses (RN) provide care and a variety of support services. RN's assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate appropriate nursing care while in collaboration with multidisciplinary care team members, provide psychological support to patients and families.

22. Cardiology and Cath Lab - Moderate sedation, circulates, assists, and operates equipment for all the various cardiac cath/EP lab procedures. These procedures include, but are not limited to, right and left heart diagnostic catheterizations, balloon angioplasty, Rotablatorangioplasty, coronary arterial stent placement, Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), carotid angiogram and stent placement, and peripheral angiogram, angioplasty and stent placements; Impella insertion; laser atherectomy .

23. Surgical Clinic - Pre-surgical care, access management and follow-up post-op Clinical management. Monitor consult management, scheduling, instant messaging, and RTC orders in collaboration with Business operations staff and surgeons. Conduct follow-up calls from missed clinic or surgical procedure appointments Clinic phone triage. Review charts of upcoming Veteran appointments New consults Plan of care for established patients Review scheduling for accuracy Provide Veteran and family education Notify Surgical Specialty Chief of any staff or Veteran concerns Assist in clinic with procedures and direct patient care as needed.

24. VA Community Care - Administrative Medicine Service (AMS) encompasses various care processes functions. The care processes are: Transfer Hospital Notification RN, Consult Referral RN, Utilization Review of ambulance / payment claims RN, and Traveling Veteran Coordinator RN. The RN is responsible for understanding all programs and maintaining her expertise in the assigned area of care. The RN reports directly to and is accountable to the Nurse Manager, VA Community Care program in AMS. The RN works collaboratively with administrative staff and has no direct supervisory functions. The nurse is responsible for facilitating the fulfillment of the SAVAHCS Mission, Vision and Values and meeting AMS goals and performance measures.

25. Medicine Sub-Specialty Clinics - Medical sub-specialties department consist of Cardiology, Oncology, Renal, Neurology, GI, Pulmonary, Endocrine, Infectious Disease, Dermatology, and Rheumatology clinics as well as Oncology infusion, Diagnostic Cardiology Lab and pacemaker clinic.
