Housekeeping Aid positions are restricted by law to Preference Eligible Veterans. 5 U.S.C 3310 and 5 CFR.330.401 restricts the competitive examination and the filling of positions of guard, elevator operators, messengers, and custodians (housekeeping aids) to preference eligibles as long as preference eligibles are available. You must submit a DD-214 which shows if you were honorably discharged, along with your resume/application, to verify your Veterans Preference eligibility. Please also submit any other Veterans documents as applicable, such as VA disability award letter.

This positions requires individuals to work independently to perform housekeeping duties that include, but are not limited to: planning, assigning, coordinating work schedules, setting priorities, and delegating work for housekeeping/custodial/janitorial staff; establishing deadlines and priorities based on schedules, policies, and reviews progress; conducting training for subordinate employees; evaluating performance of subordinate employees; implementing improvements or corrective actions to resolve work problems; inspecting work in progress for the purpose of locating potential problems and making adjustments as necessary; suggesting ways and implementing plans in which subordinates performance can be approved; handling informal complaints from employees; submitting work orders and following up on completion dates; and preparing and submitting reports on work accomplishments, manpower utilization and material consumption
