4. This position is being filled under the Contiguous-to-Area [Schedule A, 213.3112(a) (1)] appointment authority. This appointing authority is intended to permit time-limited and permanent appointments of local residents who have maintained a permanent and exclusive residence (for at least 2 years) within, or contiguous to, a National Park Service unit, and whose residency is expected to continue indefinitely.
