Ensures wastewater plant equipment is inspected on a regular basis.

Cleans and maintains equipment, tanks, filter beds, and other work areas.

Performs repairs such as rebuilding and repacking pumps and valves or replacing bearings and shafts in pumps.

Overhauls and replaces all other equipment used in the system.
6.
Conducts preventative maintenance of plant equipment by oiling and lubricating motors, pumps, chain drive mechanisms, gear transmissions.
7.
Decides whether to shut down a wastewater treatment plant and determine if the equipment still in operation can handle the load or to bypass the trouble until corrective action has been completed.
8.
Inspects remote lift stations, backup generators and overflow storage lagoon.
9.
Monitors operating conditions of equipment, meters, and gauges for proper operation.
10.
Collects and tests water and sewage samples, such as residual chlorine and settleable solids.
11.
Performs other tests, such as total solids, pH, CL2 residuals, dissolved oxygen etc.
12.
Posts test results to prescribed records and logs, reads and logs all meter readings.
13.
Records meter and gauge readings and operational data.
14.
Gathers and documents test results report that will be reported to regulatory agencies.
15.
Treats the incoming raw water and performs basic microbiological tests such as inoculation and incubation of outgoing water samples to verify the elimination of the treated microorganisms.
16.
Adheres to standard operating procedures established to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the wastewater treatment process, such wasting of sludge, or sludge removal.

Ensures familiarity with Federal, State and Agency regulations and policies governing operation of a wastewater treatment plant.

Operates equipment to purify and clarify water or to process or dispose of sewage.

Uses and operates of various kinds of equipment associated with industrial wastewater treatment such as nitrification reactors, chemical flocculation chambers, flash mix tanks, oxidation chambers, clarifiers, sludge thickeners, and ion exchangers.
21.
Operates, maintains, and repairs a 500,000 gallons per day water treatment plant, raw water wells, pumps, storage water towers, and a campus-wide distribution system.
22.
Observes motors for proper operation, vibration, or overheating; reports all defects to supervisor.
23.
Based on further treatment slows down or speeds up wastewater and sludge pumping, rechlorine or other chemicals to obtain proper bacteriological conditions.
24.
Monitors quality of effluent and adds chemicals, such as ammonia or chlorine, to disinfect water or other liquids. Routine tasks include, monitoring of chemical stocks and changing out of chemicals (solids and liquids)/gas tanks.
