Operate mapping or survey grade (RTK) GPS survey equipment in field surveys, planning projects and processing field data for export into GIS database.
3.
Use database software such as Microsoft Access to query data and streamline data management processes.
4.
Apply concepts of datums and coordinate systems accurately to create, edit, combine and display GPS and GIS data.
5.
Use ArcGIS or similar software to create and edit spatial data from various sources, including on-screen digitizing and importing from other formats.
6.
Check data products, evaluate data accuracy, quality and spatial integrity, to produce data and information that meets user requirements.
7.
Interpret and analyze aerial and satellite imagery to create raster and vector thematic data using on-screen digitizing and spatial analysis.
8.
Create compliant metadata to Federal standards including the posting of geospatial data and its metadata to web based data servers.
9.
Create, edit, present, document and disseminate spatial GIS data using GIS software such as ArcGIS, MapInfo, ERDAS Imagine or similar.
10.
Create maps to the scale and accuracy required, and clearly represent thematic data according to accepted cartographic standards, to effectively communicate the information requested.
11.
Build and maintain relational databases within relational database management systems (RDMS) software and Esri geodatabases.
12.
Design and develop spatial data inventories and cross linkages to ensure software and data structure compatibility.
13.
Perform spatial analysis of vector data (proximity, feature extraction, selection queries, etc.).
14.
Perform spatial analysis of raster data including three dimensional (3D) analysis (cost/distance, overlay/math, surface creation, time series analysis, etc.).
15.
Design and develop web maps using web map services or other techniques.
16.
Assist in the preparation of professional reports, studies or other plans.
17.
Utilize mapping grade GPS software (Trimble Pathfinder Officer, Trimble TerraSync, Collector, Arcpad and DNRGPS, etc.), creating GPS data dictionaries and field mapping methodologies. Post-process data and integrate it into GIS databases.
18.
Use GIS software tools to restructure and improve geodatabase structure and data management flow to increase efficacy and decrease processing time.
19.
Provide technical support to other GIS practitioners.
20.
Execute a field or research project after being given initial guidance, including field projects in high elevations and remote areas.
21.
Communicate effectively with people having a wide range of understanding of GIS technology.
22.
Assist non-GIS staff with data preparation and map creation within ArcGIS or similar products.
