Must have at least 18 months of experience or training in using ultrasonic and/or eddy current inspection techniques to observe, measure, and detect discontinuities and flaws. Experience classifying test results, identifying material deficiencies and recommending courses of action for items of equipment. Experience recommending engine components to be inspected and forwarding results to the appropriate authority. Experience performing scheduled inspections of testing equipment ensuring compliance with established technical regulations and procedures.

Knowledge of the full range of characteristics of metals identification; wear metals identification and content; metal discontinuity and flaw detection; operation and maintenance of nondestructive test and oil analysis equipment; radiological safety and radiation monitoring procedures; technical orders and directives; and proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials.

Knowledge of the various shapes, sizes, and density of flaw indications in parts, components, and materials being tested.
3.
Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
4.
Ability to identify, locate, and measure hidden and subsurface flaws, corrosion, and separation in bonded and honeycomb structures; integrity of welds; precision dimensional and volume measurements; and hardness of materials.
5.
Ability to follow technical orders engineering drawings, technical data, workbooks, and NDI literature to determine inspection requirements and area(s) to be examined.
