To qualify at the GS-9 grade, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level or higher. Specialized experience is defined as experience analyzing and/or reviewing residential real estate appraisals completed for mortgage loans. Experience may also be gained through experience in real estate sales and/or experience in the residential mortgage lending industry.

Specialized experience is defined as in addition to the requirements at the GS-9 level, experience with VA policies and regulations regarding the Lender Appraisal Processing Program (LAPP), VA minimum property requirements and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) guidelines.
