Analyze water samples for total mercury at sub-parts per trillion levels using Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescent Spectroscopy (CVAFS).

Analyze solid samples for total mercury at sub-parts per trillion levels through thermal desorption.

Prepare and safely handle laboratory chemicals in the preparation and analysis of samples for major, toxic, and trace elements.
5.
Operate, calibrate, adjust, and maintain equipment and instrumentation used in the processing and inorganic elemental analysis of environmental, geological, and geochemical solid and liquid samples.
6.
Make reference standards, standard solutions, and calibration standards using molarity, gravimetric and volumetric methods.
7.
Produce data output as images, graphs, lists, and tables, search for errors, keep appropriate records, and summarize results.
8.
Develop and present materials for briefings, meetings, or conferences.
9.
Work with LIMS and/or databases (e.g., Access) for use with chemical data.
10.
Prepare and analyze a variety of QA/QC and analytical samples including NIST, etc. standard reference, spikes, replicates and blank samples for use in maintaining the integrity of data produced in a laboratory.
11.
Check, validate, and document the accuracy of data being produced, comparing daily laboratory results with results obtained from the analysis of standards and standard reference material samples.
12.
Manage datasets in MS Excel.
13.
Prepare sediment samples for chemical laboratory analysis.
14.
Prepare water samples for chemical laboratory analysis.
15.
Create and maintain documentation for laboratory procedures.
