2. In this part, you will be asked about your education or experience in meeting the basic qualifications for the Forester, GS-460 series. Please read all responses prior to making your selection, then select the answer that accurately reflects your qualifications:

A. I possess a degree in forestry; or a related subject-matter field that included a total of at least 30 semester hours in any combination of biological, physical, or mathematical sciences or engineering, of which at least 24 semester hours of course work were in forestry, to include courses in each of the following areas: Management of Renewable Resources -- study of the science and art of managing renewable resources to attain desired results, including courses such as silviculture, forest management operations, timber management, wildland fire science or fire management, utilization of forest resources, forest regulation, recreational land management, watershed management, and wildlife or range habitat management; Forest Biology -- study of the classification, distribution, characteristics, and identification of forest vegetation, and the interrelationships of living organisms to the forest environment, including courses such as dendrology, forest ecology, silvics, forest genetics, wood structure and properties, forest soils, forest entomology, and forest pathology; Forest Resource Measurements and Inventory -- sampling, inventory, measurement, and analysis techniques as applied to a variety of forest resources, including courses such as forest biometrics, forest mensuration, forest valuation, statistical analysis of forest resource data, renewable natural resources inventories and analysis, and photogrammetry or remote sensing.

B. I possess a combination of education and experience: at least 30 semester hours in any combination of biological, physical, or mathematical sciences or engineering, of which at least 24 semester hours were in forestry. The requirements for diversification of the 24 semester hours in forestry are the same as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

C. None of the above.

3. In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements, applicants must meet the following Specialized Experience Requirement in order to be considered. Please select one response from the choices shown below that corresponds to the level of specialized experience you fully possess to meet the GS-07 level. Your resume must contain evidence to support your responses.

A. You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as assisting with the development and implementation of forestry conservation plans.

B. I possess superior academic achievement (i.e. upper third of graduating class, 3.0 or greater GPA overall or 3.5 or greater GPA within Major, or honor society membership).

C. I possess one year of graduate level education in Forestry or a directly related discipline.

D. I possess a combination of graduate-level education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position, the combination has equipped me with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. (Combinations of experience and education must total at least 100% as outlined in OPM Qualifications policy.)

E. I do not possess the education and/or experience reflected above.

4. In addition to meeting the basic educational requirement, you must also meet specialized experience requirements. Please select one response from the choices shown below that corresponds to the level of specialized experience you fully possess to meet the GS-09 level. Your resume must contain evidence to support your responses.

A. I possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service. For this position, examples of specialized experience include: planning and implementing forest land management actions on private lands; utilizing forest resources and environmental compliance in order to implement conservation plans and programs.

B. I possess 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in forestry or a directly related field.

C. I possess a combination of graduate-level education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. Combinations of experience and education must total at least 100% as outlined in OPM Qualifications policy.

D. I do not have the experience and/or education described in the above statements at this time.
