Thank you for your interest in a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer position with the Department of the Army. 1. From the descriptions below, select the appropriate response based on your level of experience, education, and/or training, that you fully possess and that demonstrates your ability to perform Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer duties without more than normal supervision.

A. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer duties. I am skilled I performing general mechanical work in the repair, rebuild and overhaul of various assemblies and subassemblies for automobiles, heavy mobile equipment, combat and tactical vehicles. Examine parts and assemblies for serviceability, repairs, or unserviceable items to obtain critical parts that are not available through normal supply channels. Operate test and special tools/equipment and all common tools used in the mechanic trade. Disassemble components of cross drives, hydrometric transmissions, oil cooler fans, and hydraulic units. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.

B. I have the ability to perform the full range of Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer duties. I am skilled in assembling and repairing accessory gear boxes and reduction gear boxes on the turbine engine. Use proper test equipment such as feeler gages, dial indicators, torque wrenches, and hand tools common to the trade. Disassemble items, clean parts, and adjust defective parts such as bearings, bushings, shafts, gears, etc., associated with specific type of engine. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.

C. I have the ability to perform common Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer duties. I can work in assisting higher grade mechanics in the repair, rebuild, and overhaul, and testing of various fuel and electric/subassemblies associated with specific type of engine, such as turbine or reciprocating, gear boxes, transmissions and various automotive vehicle components. Observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

D. I have the ability to perform simple Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer duties or I have received training on the use of basic hand tools and how to handle hazardous materials/waste.

E. I do not possess the abilities described above.
