3. Competency 1166: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT). Serve as a primary operator for water and wastewater treatment facilities and distribution systems consisting of direct (bag filters) filtration plants, with associated disinfection systems including hypo chlorination. Serves as 1) an operator for water treatment systems and is responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of systems operated filtration plants, well systems with associated disinfection systems including chlorination. Experience performing process control tests to determine the process adjustments necessary to assure water quality complies with required parameters set by State Public Health Service and Environmental Protection Agency; evaluating a plant or system's efficiency and process control; determine operational adjustments needed to achieve desired effluent quality that meets Environmental Protection Agency and State Public Health Service standards based on laboratory testing including pH, fecal coliform, chlorine residual, turbidity, and temperature: make proper adjustments to chlorinator to meet regulatory residual requirements; and tracking of laboratory test results. Serves as 2) an operator for wastewater treatment systems and is responsible for daily, weekly and monthly inspections of extended aeration wastewater plants and systems. Experience performing process control tests to determine and make the process adjustments necessary to assure plant effluent complies with state and federal parameters as established by issued permits using laboratory testing including pH, temperature, fecal coliform, TSS, BOD, ammonia and chlorine residual. Able to complete reports using computer software and other computer systems.
