Minimum Qualifications

Applies knowledge of current legislation, federal regulations, and NPS policies and standards relating to archeology in performance of archeological duties.

Assists in studies of archeological resources through survey and excavation.
7.
Conducts all phases of archeological investigations (Phase I and II surveys or inventories, archeological monitoring, and Phase III data recovery).
8.
Assesses the accuracy of information recorded on archeological site forms prepared by contractors and staff.
9.
Gathers and organizes archeological site information including site location, extent, and condition, assesses data accuracy
10.
Organizes archeological data, assesses its accuracy, and communicates archeological information to professional and non-professional audiences.
11.
Gathers archeological spatial data, assesses its accuracy, organizes data using GIS and communicates archeological spatial information by creating maps and data layers for GIS.
12.
Verifies the completeness of records to be entered into the Cultural Resources Inventory System - Archeology (CRIS-AR; Legacy ASMIS) or similar computer database
13.
Prepares forms, records, update and maintains accurate archeological site information using digital databases.
14.
Applies skills in using archeological tools including survey equipment such as GPS for navigation and site mapping.
15.
Organizes and manages archeological data using spreadsheet and database software such as Excel, Access, or similar software
16.
Updates archeological databases with archeological site information including state site files and the Cultural Resources Inventory System - Archeology (CRIS-AR; Legacy ASMIS) or similar computer database.
17.
Uses technology for conducting archeological artifact analysis, and records archeological artifact data into spreadsheets and databases.
18.
Prepares written descriptions of archeological site condition information for entry into digital archeological site databases.
19.
Prepares written descriptions of archeological survey information for inclusion in technical reports
20.
Prepares written descriptions of archeological data interpretation for professional and public audiences.
21.
Summarizes archeological information in written articles or digital and social media posts for non-technical, public audiences.
