Minimum Qualifications for Park Ranger GS-0025-05
1.

Provides public orientation and explanations of current park events, resource management projects, management policies and legislative updates affecting the park area.

Informs and educates the public about the significance of the resources of the park, the rules and regulations in relation to the protection of the resources.

Skill in meeting and dealing with people.

Knowledge of the types and extent of emergency operations which are carried out in the park.
6.
Provides answers to recurring and non-recurring visitor questions concerning specific park areas (in person, via telephone, or by responding to written requests for information).

Observes and identifies park resource problems or potential problems that can be corrected or mitigated by immediate attention.
8.
Evaluate situations and respond accordingly and notify appropriate personnel and assisting within policy, ability, and training.

Operates vehicles and equipment used in general park operations such as full size 4x4 pick-up trucks.

General knowledge of the natural and cultural resources of the park, e.g., vegetation, wildlife communities, water resources, historic structures and artifacts, etc.

Experience with the safe operation of manual and power hand tools.
13.
Use hand digging tools in rocky, shelly and packed sand.
14.
Wear safety protective equipment appropriate for the activity.

Work in a tight office setting with others.
