You must meet the minimum basic educational/experience requirements for chemist positions in the federal government. These include:
A.) A 4-year degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics; OR
B.) A combination of education and experience with course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience, or additional education.

- Managing operations in support of regulatory programs which deliver work products according to customer service standards; AND
- Applying federal statutes and regulations to the chemistry and manufacturing processes of alcohol beverage, nonbeverage alcohol, tobacco products, or similar food products; AND
- Formulating and managing budgets for a laboratory; AND
- Supervising chemists and technicians' work and projects, including mentoring, providing performance feedback, and yearly performance evaluations.
