3. Must have at least 18 months experience, education, or training controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade. Have experience in rescue operations; experience in detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; experience in operation of fire communications equipment; experience in controlling hazardous materials incidents; and, developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention.

1. Thorough knowledge of facility layouts (including research and/or industrial complexes) and the location and operation of alarm/suppression control panels, hydrants, utility shutoffs, and suppression systems (including special extinguishing agents and systems).

2. Knowledge of recognized standards covering fire protection and prevention techniques and procedures; agency and installation manuals, rules, and regulations; and federal, state, and local fire protection/prevention ordinances and building codes.

3. Thorough knowledge of the physical configuration of a variety of large or complex aircraft and the operational characteristics of associated systems and mechanisms. (limit characters)
4. Knowledge of the theory of fire propagation and progression and the application of accepted techniques and principles to eliminate/reduce the hazards in a specialized environment where there is a high fire expectancy and potential for severity (equivalent to Degree C or D of Factors 1 and 2 in Part 1 of the standard). 5. Skill and ability to develop and conduct fire prevention training, education, and information programs for a variety of client groups. (limit characters)
