Ensure confidentiality with respect to electronic files containing sensitive data which is protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other applicable laws, federal regulations, and policies.

Participate in lab, medical staff and administrative committee/conferences in the implementation of laboratory services.

Plan and forecast the operational needs of the laboratory.

Use a wide range of qualitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness.

Configure an automated patient system, i.e., Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) or VistA Laboratory test file in preparation for initial use of the Lab package or in preparation for a new reference laboratory implementation.
15.
Evaluate quality control, quality assurance, preventive maintenance, and safety programs for total department efficiency.

Evaluate laboratory information for use in interpretation of the results of tests to diagnostic decision making or patient management.
