Experience includes: Expert knowledge of Boiler Plants, and Air Conditioning Plants is required due to the complexity of the various equipment as well as the ability to use fast, sound judgment in emergencies. Expert working knowledge of high-pressure boilers, high arid low-pressure air-conditioning equipment, and all auxiliary equipment operated, maintained and repaired. In addition, the USRO must have high pressure boiler operator experience: firing on natural gas or fuel oil. Must have computer knowledge and have the ability to read, write, speak and interpret the English language and transform those interpretations into action required for the operation and repair. Must have the expert ability to ascertain when a true emergency exists and take the appropriate action needed.

The incumbent is responsible for the operation maintenance, repair, modification, and preventive maintenance of all equipment, assigned to Climate Control Section, and Medical Center. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, all Climate Control systems, i.e., air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and exhaust, cooling towers, chillers, refrigeration systems and units, operation, maintenance and repair, preventive maintenance of the Graphic Control Center, laundry processing equipment, kitchen equipment and various types of pumps, motors, compressor, and rolling equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, carts, and beds.

Serves as the direct supervisor of the A/C Mechanic shop, A/C Operators shop (Climate Control) and the Mechanical Shop. Responsible for the operation, repair, modifications and preventive maintenance of all equipment, assigned to the three shops and but not limited the rest of the medical center.

Responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, troubleshooting, replacement of parts and overhauling of all air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Responsible for the 24/7, 365 operation of all HVAC and refrigeration systems and plants throughout the medical center. Perform duties of an A/C equipment operator when staffing coverage is not available and/or in emergency situations to maintain constant coverage and operation of the plant.

Responsible for maintaining flat roofs, leaders, gutters, window screens, bathroom partitions, pumps, exhaust fans, outdoor handrails, air compressors, pallet jacks. All welding and sheet metal fabrication. Oversee the bed and wheelchair repair shop for maintenance and repairs of wheelchairs, stretchers, carts, and beds.

Incumbent is responsible for planning comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the equipment assigned.

Is responsible for monitoring control points assigned to the Maintenance and Operations (M & O) Section. Assists in preparing estimates for budget submission and for development of the station planned maintenance program. Prepares, maintains and monitors all records, i.e., Engineering Maintenance and Repair Program, Engineering Annual Work Plans, and Quarter Reports.

Must maintain and update the in-house equipment which is assigned to the shop and plan for replacement parts and manpower needed to maintain such equipment. Develops job training programs and assists in carrying out the program.
