1. From the statements below, select the one response that best describes how your education meets the Basic Requirements for the Natural Resource Specialist, GS-0401 series.

A. I have successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors degree or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

B. I have a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors or higher degree in a major field of study that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Related course work generally refers to courses that may be accepted as part of the program major.

C. I have a combination of education and experience that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, AND experience sufficient to demonstrate that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation that is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field needed to perform the work of the occupation.

Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience is defined as meeting one or more of the following: Participate in developing plans to overcome significant resource problems related to forest management, range management, fisheries and wildlife habitat restoration; Conduct long/short term studies and investigations on the use of soils, water, vegetation, timber, wildlife, and other natural resources as part of the land management/natural resources program and restoration efforts; Coordinate surveys, analyze biological data, and a variety of data associated with environmental studies; and/or Assist in planning, administering, and evaluating various natural resources and environmental protection programs to ensure proper consideration is given to resource conservation and protection measures.

B. I have three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (coursework directly related to position being filled).

C. I have a combination of specialized experience (as described above) and graduate level education (beyond what is required for a master's degree, i.e., more than 36 semester hours leading to a Ph.D.).

D. I do not meet the requirement(s) described above.
