Current Federal with career or career-conditional appointments in the competitive service that hold, or have held a career or career-conditional position at a lower band/grade level of the position being announced. 

Current GAO Employees, if you are a current employee to meet competitive service, you would need to have completed one year of continuous service at GAO under a non-Temporary appointment and were appointment on or after October 1, 1980 (service prior to this date was in the competitive service).

5. Are you a Former Peace Corps and AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteers and has served (1) one year of Peace Corp or AmeriCorps Vista Volunteer Service?

Your non-competitive eligibility lasts for one year after completing your Peace Corps or AmeriCorps Volunteer service.  However, At GAO's discretion, if you meet the below criteria, an extension may be granted to the one year completion period.

(1) enter military service;
(2) study at an accredited college or university; or
(3) engage in another activity, which in GAO's view, warrants an extension.
