Minimum Qualifications for Forestry Technician (Type 2 Wildland Fire Module Leader) GS- 0462-08

1. From the descriptions below, select one response that best describes how your background meets the specialized experience or education requirements for a Forestry Technician (Type 2 Wildland Fire Module Leader), GS-0462-08 position. If you do not meet these minimum qualifications, you will be considered not qualified and will not receive consideration for this position.

A. I possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. For this position, examples of qualifying specialized experience are: performing wildland and prescribed fire operations and providing expertise in the areas of fire monitoring, ignition, holding and suppression, prescribed fire preparation and implementation support, hazardous fuels reduction and fire effects monitoring. This experience must demonstrate proven ability to work in a team environment, leading a diverse group of team members to accomplish assigned tasks, working to establish group cohesion.

B. I do not possess the one year of specialized experience as defined in 1A above, but I have a master?s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, in a field directly related to the position such as forestry, fire science. (Must provide copies of transcripts.)

C. I have NOT completed 1 full year of specialized experience as described in 1A above or the directly related graduate education in 1B above, but I have an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Must provide copies of transcripts.)

D. I do not meet or exceed any of the above qualification statements.

2. Entry Age (Selective Factor) - This position is covered by the special retirement provisions of 5 U.S.C 8336 (c) and 5 U.S.C. 8412 (d). Applicants must not have reached their 37th birthday upon appointment to this position unless there is sufficient prior Federal service in a covered position to permit retirement on or before the mandatory retirement age for this type of position. An exception is allowed if you are a qualified veterans' preference eligible. Please select A, B, C, or D below which best describes how you meet this requirement.

NWCG Qualifications (Selective Factor)

In addition to the basic qualifications and specialized experience described above, selectees must possess by the closing date of this announcement possessed all of the following National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) incident management qualifications and training requirements: Firing Boss (FIRB), Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4), Single Resource Boss/Crew Boss (CRWB) OR Engine Boss (ENGB). Please select the response below that best describes your qualifications in this area. If you do not meet the requirements of this selective factor, you will be rated ineligible for these positions.
Applicants must document how they meet this requirement by including a copy of the IQCS Master Record or equivalent in their application material.
