- Knowledge of OSHA, DOD, Department of Army, NGB, and ARNG laws, regulations and policies related to occupational health and industrial hygiene.
- Ability to develop recommendations for alternative controls, procedures, and/or protective equipment relative to the prevention or management of harmful exposures.
- Knowledge to identify and/or quantify a variety of chemical agents (e.g., gases, dusts, fumes, mists); physical agents (e.g., noise, temperature extremes); biological agents (e.g., fungi) and ergonomic factors.
- Ability to gather information to prepare reports of finds, to include recommendations for corrections.
- Ability to perform complex computations/investigations, and apply theories and formulas typical in the scientific calculations of the industrial hygiene profession.

Knowledge of a broad range of administrative and managerial methods and techniques used toindependently plan, implement, evaluate and manage the ARNG State Industrial Hygiene Program.
