At the GS-08 grade level the work requires one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: work as a Petroleum Engineering Technician (PET), or similar position, involving most phases of drilling and production inspection and enforcement activities under minimal oversight and supervision, ensuring safe and efficient development of operations for the successful production of minerals in conformity with Federal regulations and requirements. At the GS-09 grade level the work requires one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: work as a Petroleum Engineering Technician (PET), or in a directly related position performing moderate to complex work as a petroleum engineering technician, or similar position, involving all aspects of drilling and production inspection and enforcement activities to include independently analyzing assignments to identify, coordinate, and plan the steps of inspections that may have required deviation from the standard methods. 3. Demonstrated skill and ability in the use of mathematics at the high school algebra level to verify volume and height of cement and to calculate other drilling fluids and oil and gas volumes to account for production from Federal and Indian oil and gas leases.
