Perform work requiring expert-level professional knowledge of alpha, beta, and gamma or various mass spectrometer measurement systems, instrumentation, and techniques.

Develop measurement procedures that will address the spectrum of activity levels in samples from nuclear weapons tests or nuclear-related accidents.

Conduct various specialized data evaluations and analyses to resolve scientific measurement problems when instruments or the data do not behave as anticipated.
7.
Provide technical assistance and training regarding laboratory methodology and standard operating procedures to the laboratory measurement teams.
8.
Establish and oversee performance of the laboratory measurement procedures for the samples based on their concentrations, to obtain high quality data on the isotopes of interest.
9.
Collect and analyze information from multiple sources such as past historical documentation, current measurement techniques used by the Department of Energy nuclear laboratories, and R&D reports on various innovative approaches in the field.
10.
Provide procedures that meet laboratory radiological and safety standards ensuring the safety of personnel.
11.
Process and save the sample data in the event of an error or an unexpected problem during measurement.
12.
Review laboratory building design documents and oversee the establishment of requirements that allow the laboratory to meet all measurement laboratory requirements.
13.
Perform evaluations and assessments of work areas and recommend corrective actions; and monitor the state-of-the-art nuclear measurement areas and recommend upgrades as required.
14.
Establish and maintain a training program that ensures technicians are fully knowledgeable of the measurement techniques required for measuring all types of radioactive samples.
15.
Provide detailed training enough to personnel that are not familiar with any measurement equipment, systems or techniques, and to personnel that have established proficiency in measurements.
16.
Organize, interpret and present information in a clear concise manner when making presentations during meetings or in conferences or workshops.
