Exercise judgment in the placement of cargo, vehicle clearances, turning radius, braking distance, and maintaining proper distance from other vehicles.

Operate motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds up to 26,000 pounds to include passenger shuttle vans (10-20 passenger capacity), cargo vans and 30- to 40- passenger buses.

Perform preventive maintenance on motor vehicles, notifying supervisor if vehicle requires repairs.
7.
Operate motor vehicles over uneven terrain or improved/unimproved roads through various traffic conditions.

Provide safe and timely service when transporting cargo/passengers.

Communicate with dispatchers by radio, telephone, or computer to exchange information and receive requests for passenger service.
10.
Follow employer standards concerning schedules and deadlines and safe and economical vehicle operations.
11.
Operate motor vehicles without causing injury to self, others, and the vehicle/equipment.
12.
Drive vehicles through congested areas in which the driver must exercise caution when loading/unloading vehicles, approaching other cars or pedestrians, delivering heavy or fragile materials, etc.
13.
Perform emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or spark plugs.
14.
Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
15.
Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
16.
Keep records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations.
17.
Provide comfort of passengers, safety of cargo and property, and adherence to traffic laws.
18.
Interpret and apply instructions and specifications pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles.

Use manual and automated maps to select routes to avoid heavy traffic, other delaying conditions and/or to reach unfamiliar locations.

Refer to the operator's manual of assigned vehicles to ensure proper operation.
