Operate various types of heavy equipment, such as graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments to perform construction and road maintenance work.
5.
Adjust equipment attachments for proper positioning and working order, without stopping the power unit or the equipment.
6.
Operate heavy equipment to complete excavation, backfilling, and grading of construction materials to specifications as required on such projects as roads, ditches, campgrounds, minor and major culverts and other construction projects.
7.
Perform and document comprehensive pre-start inspections on heavy equipment, heavy trucks and tractors/trailers including but not limited to structural components, operating systems and multiple methods of airbrake checks.
8.
Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance to ensure they meet safety standards and are cost-effective.
9.
Coordinate funds for a variety of costs including repairs, licensing, and registration fees.
10.
Procure, dispose, rotate, repair and maintain vehicles in accordance with established policies and procedures.
11.
Confirm vehicle and equipment meet all appropriate State Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and regulations for weight allowances to travel on state and federal highways.
12.
Work with managers to determine new vehicle and equipment needs and specifications.
13.
Review vehicle and equipment services received and their conformance with policy, rules, regulations, and statutes for payment of vendors and contractors.
14.
Follow oral instructions or written work orders concerning the location of the job and the work to be accomplished.
15.
Operate heavy equipment to move earth on mountains and steep slopes to grade the earth to the general contour desired on trails, roads, canals, tunnels, or construction sites.
16.
Operate dump truck and semi-truck with trailer maximum gross vehicle weight of 80,000 to 120,000 lbs. to haul specialized heavy equipment.
17.
Operate tractor/trailer combination heavy trucks exceeding 50,000 lbs. on winding roads and steep grades.
18.
Perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment, heavy trucks, and tractors/trailers including but not limited to greasing, adding fluids and changing cutting edges/wear surfaces.
