Animal Packer-Custodial workers at this level perform the following duties: Perform minor maintenance such as clearing clogged drains, painting, replacing toilet seats and installing dispensers. Hike to backcountry toilet facilities to process waste and recycling, while leading llamas or other pack animals to pack tools and supplies in and solid waste out. Use and maintain custodial equipment and operate vehicles and pickup trucks to transport supplies, materials, and pack animals.

Clean and maintain facilities such as campgrounds, fire grates, picnic areas, restrooms, comfort stations and vault toilets including walls, floors, doors, windows, toilets, urinals, lavatories, sinks, mirrors, fixtures, stalls and partitions.

Collects litter, trash, and handle/process solid waste and recycling.

Perform minor maintenance work to comfort stations, vault toilets and other work such as snow removal, grounds maintenance, and painting.

Load, pack and unload tools, supplies and equipment on pack animals.
6.
Pack animal care such as feeding, watering, and handling pack animals (llamas).
7.
Perform minor routine and emergency maintenance and repair to both front-country and backcountry facilities such as comfort stations.
8.
Check plumbing connections, tighten/replace fasteners, adjust door closers, replace toilet seats and install dispensers.
9.
Assess maintenance problems and report on required equipment and supply needs to correct.
10.
Read and follow maintenance manuals, manufacturers' guidelines, and safety warnings.
11.
Perform duties in an assigned area, following general instructions on the work to be done.
12.
Responsible for the complete care, feeding, and stabling of assigned animals, including cleaning and maintenance of corrals and pens and ensuring daily health observations, feeding and watering duties are performed.
13.
Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and equipment.
14.
Stock toilet paper, clean inside toilets using disinfecting and deodorizing chemicals.
15.
Remove stains from a variety of surfaces using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
16.
Maintain vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers and buffers by cleaning and oiling and by replacing brushes, rollers, belts, and bags.
17.
Read and follow written instructions on the safe use of cleaning supplies/chemicals.
18.
Manipulate the controls for starting, stopping, backing and driving assigned vehicles.
19.
Load and transport animals to worksite in a safe manner.
20.
Handle llamas while transporting supplies to backcountry, maintaining control over animals at all times.
