From the descriptions below, select the appropriate response based on your experience, education, and/or training you possess that demonstrates your ability to perform Maintenance Worker (Trails) duties. If you do not meet these minimum qualifications, you will be shown as ineligible and will not receive consideration for this position.

Perform routine trail maintenance tasks to include tree felling, bucking, and brush removal.
3.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks to include, root/rock removal, rebenching tread, and improving/installing drainage structures.
4.
Perform rigging techniques including high lines, high leads, 2 to 1, and directional pulls using equipment such as Griphoists.
5.
Perform carpentry project tasks to include bridge, handrail, box step, ladder step, crib wall, turnpike and water bar construction.
6.
Perform masonry project tasks to include bridge abutment, step, retaining wall, rip rap, and water bar construction.
7.
Lead volunteers and youth crews in the performance of trail maintenance and construction tasks.
8.
Hike up to 20 miles on a daily basis while carrying a backpack and tools.
9.
Stoop, stretch, bend, sit and kneel for long periods of time.
10.
Maintain a safe and clean work area by removing waste material, sweeping, mopping, and returning tools and equipment to their proper location after use.
11.
Use and maintain protective devices such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, and/or respirator masks.
12.
Use transit, laser, line, and other levels and squares in construction projects.
13.
Use tape measure and diameter tape for construction projects.
14.
Follow detailed written instructions or work orders.
15.
Follow oral instructions provided by a supervisor or senior employee.

Follow established safety protocol and policies.

Explain work procedures and manuals.
18.
Utilize a variety of hand tools such as shovels, rock bars, sledgehammers, pulaskis, pick mattocks, and mcleods to perform trails maintenance.

Operate a variety of power tools such as chain saws, string trimmers, backpack blowers, pole saws, portable generators, rock drills, and jack hammers.
20.
Operate pick-up truck on private, public, and rough services roads to transport personnel, materials, and supplies to and from work sites.
21.
Pull trailers to transport materials, equipment, etc to job sites and trail heads.
22.
Operate equipment such as mini excavators, UTV's, and motorized wheel barrows.
23.
Perform preventative maintenance such as oil change, clean air filters, mixing oil and gas, and maintaining fluids on small engines.
24.
Select and utilize best wood, stone, or other material to be used in trail projects.
