2. Perform condition assessments to identify deficiencies of historic buildings and ruins to help determine type and amount of maintenance required to maintain them in proper condition.

3. Perform preservation treatments on historic sites and ruins built of mortar, adobe, stone, wood and/or a combination of building materials.

4. Recommend appropriate restoration/preservation treatment for projects.

5. Use of specialized tools and materials used in the trade such as table saw, circular saw, routers, planers.

6. Document and maintain records on all treatment and tasks accomplished on projects utilizing appropriate method of documentation.

7. Research in the archives for data pertaining to historic structures for the purpose of determining the original physical condition and configuration and current preservation work required.
