Preferences
1. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years, before completing an application for CBP employment.

All newly appointed, first-time CBP supervisors are required to complete the mandatory Supervisory Leadership Training (SLT) course. The Office of Training and Development will schedule eligible supervisors to attend SLT within the first 90 days of appointment. All newly appointed, first time permanent supervisors shall attain the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform their supervisory responsibilities by completing required leadership training in accordance with CBP Directive 51410-021C, Required Leadership Training for New CBP Supervisors (dated 11/17/2013), and CBP Directive 51410-024, Required Continuous Leader Development for CBP Supervisors (dated 11/17/2013).

NOTE: This training may be waived if previously completed.
