1. From the descriptions below, select the response that best describes your Education, Examination and/or Registration as it relates to meeting the BASIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT for the GS-0810 Series.

A. have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelors or higher degree in Engineering in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

B. I have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering that included differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five (5) of the following seven (7) areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

C. have successfully completed 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, and that included the courses specified in B above. These courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

D. I have successfully completed a curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate scientific field such as engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology AND have at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. This must include either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

E. I have successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination, or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. NOTE: You must submit documentation of having passed the examination.

F. I am currently registered as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. This registration must have been obtained by written test OR be in general engineering or a directly related engineering field and was gained by State grandfather or eminence provisions NOTE: You must submit copies of your current registration.

2. From the descriptions below, select the response that best describes your SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE to perform the duties of Civil Engineer GS-0810-11 in order to meet the MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT for this position.

A. I have one full year of specialized experience, comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following as a professional engineer: (1) providing engineering design, analysis, review, inspection, and/or documentation for a wide range of civil engineering assignments; (2) conducting studies and developing technical documents such as site reviews and instructions (3) identifying data needed for design development and engineering assignments; and (4) establishing collaborative working relationships with stakeholders to ensure that their needs are heard and addressed.

B. I have successfully completed 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Applicants must submit a copy of transcripts.

C. I have a combination of specialized experience described in A and progressively higher-level post graduate education leading to a doctoral degree. To calculate the combination, first determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the required experience above. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education substitution stated above. When adding the two percentages, the total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Only graduate education in excess of two (2) years (36 semester hours) will be used to qualify at the GS-11 grade level. B. I do not possess the specialized experience described in the statement above.
