A. I have completed a degree in one of the basic animal sciences or physiology; or a related discipline or field of science that included at least 24 semester hours in the basic animal sciences, of which 10 semester hours were in animal physiology.

B. My education/experience is not reflected in the above statements.

2. Select the answer below that describes your education and/or experience as it relates to the basic qualification requirements for the Animal Science Series (0487). If you select A or B, please submit a copy of your transcripts for verification.

A. I have a degree in animal science, dairy science, poultry science; or a related discipline or field of animal science that included at least 30 semester hours in the basic biological and agricultural sciences, and 20 semester hours in animal science.

B. I do not have a degree as described above; however, I do have a combination of education and experience. Specifically, courses equivalent to a major in the basic biological and agricultural sciences, including a minimum of 20 semester hours in appropriate animal science subjects, as described in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

C. My education and/or experience is not reflected in the above statement.

A. I have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree directly related to the duties of the position (i.e., animal science, animal physiology, dairy science, poultry science, or agricultural science).

I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service conducting research related to the behavior and physiology of swine; AND publishing research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals; AND presenting research findings at scientific conferences or academic meetings, either in person or virtually.

C. I have a combination of graduate level education and specialized experience.

D. I do not meet the related education or specialized experience requirements as described above.

I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service conducting independent research related to the behavior and physiology of swine; AND publishing research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals; AND presenting research findings at scientific conferences or academic meetings, either in person or virtually; AND experience supervising staff to accomplish research objectives; AND experience interacting with stakeholder groups to address swine welfare issues.

B. I do not meet the specialized experience requirements as described above.

B. I am a member of a national honor society (other than a freshman honor society) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.

C. I have completed all requirements for an advanced degree (beyond the baccalaureate) in a directly related field from an accredited institution. Directly related fields of study include animal science, physiology, animal breeding, genetics, animal behavior, psychology, and agricultural science. If you answer yes, please submit a copy of your transcripts.

D. I have experience working in conducting field research related to the relationship between stress, behavior, and on-farm management practices OR experience building cooperative relations with stakeholders to include federal agencies, university, and end users.
