Specialized experience includes all of the following and is required:
  • Expertise in journalism and leading a team of journalists producing multimedia content for the region of China.
  • Experience covering a variety of topics concerning China, such as international relations, economics, culture, and socio-political development, including creation and production of multimedia newscasts and production of content for broadcasting.
  • Expertise in the Chinese media market that enables the incumbent to plan and create content and marketing strategy for the China Branch.
  • Proficiency in leading staff with experience preparing and managing budgets, including execution of plans that meet the mission and focus of an agency.  In addition, experience managing a diverse staff of journalists, producers, and contract personnel in the U.S. and abroad.
  • Extensive experience and skill in China's politics and surrounding territories and regions, which includes Cantonese or Mandarin-speaking areas and the United States objectives and policy toward each territory of the country, such as democracy and human rights issues in China.  Understands U.S. policy on creation and development of multimedia content for audiences in various regions surrounding China, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, and neighboring regions.
