1. Select the one statement that best describes the education that you possess that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of a Student Trainee (Engineering) position with the Army Corps of Engineers, at the GS-04 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service.

A. I have completed two (2) full academic years of education above high school, or an associate's degree of related course work. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your letter of acceptance or transcript/school documentation for verification.)

B. I have NOT completed two full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.

2. Select the one statement that best describes the education that you possess that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of a Student Trainee (Engineering) at the GS-05 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service.

A. I have the education requirements and successful completion of a 4 academic years of post high-school of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in Civil Engineering.

B. None of my education is reflected in the above statement.

Interns who successfully complete this Internship may be placed into a permanent or term Civil Engineer position. In order to qualify as a Civil Engineer when you graduate, your degree program must encompass the following: A degree in professional Engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

3. It is important to understand that to be converted to a permanent or term Civil Engineer upon completion of your student internship requires completion of academic requirements in Engineering identified above. Changing your major may affect your placement upon completion of your internship.

A. I understand that I must complete my academic requirements for either a bachelor's or higher degree in professional Engineering in order to remain in this Intern opportunity and be eligible for placement into a permanent or term job. If I fail to complete these requirements, (1) I may be terminated from the Intern Program and (2) dismissed from federal service.

B. I do not understand how this requirement applies to me or I am not enrolled in a qualifying degree program.
