Thank you for applying for the position of Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Assistant Director) GS-1811-15 with the Department of Defense, Defense Criminal Investigative Service.

The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying.

This position has been designated as special sensitive, and the incumbent must be eligible for a Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. Are you willing to undergo the appropriate background investigation(s) to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with access to SCI?

I have successfully completed the Criminal Investigator Training Program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) or an equivalent Federal-level criminal investigator training program, and I am including a copy of the certificate of completion with my application. Supervises senior level criminal investigators to guide and control work, plans, directs, coordinates and develops investigative operations.

Analyzes requests for investigations and determines or advises top management as to which should be initiated, curtailed and/or terminated from the standpoint of jurisdiction, investigative priorities including other complexities involved with cases

Determines additional actions that may be required or desired and develops budget and program planning documents for the DIG, as required

Ensures that those investigators entitled to investigative reports are aware of and comply with their responsibilities to properly handle, safeguard, and disseminate
13.
Establishes guidelines in extremely sensitive cases including managing inspections.
14.
Classified information and conducts investigations of security violations as required
15.
Recommends necessary corrective action.
16.
Testifies before grand juries, courts, or administrative hearings regarding the crime and evidentiary proof ascertained through investigative efforts
